Setup Wizard

Set up your wizard for Windows 11 deployment

The setup wizard gets iiDeploy ready for Windows 11 deployment. It only takes a few steps.

Download and Import the Windows 11 ISO

Download the latest Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft's Windows 11 download page.

Once downloaded, click Import in iiDeploy and select the ISO you just downloaded.

Select the Windows Edition

Once step 1 is done, step 2 appears in the setup wizard. Choose the Windows version you would like to deploy from the dropdown, then click the Select Edition button to confirm.

This might take a few minutes while iiDeploy detects the correct installation file from the iso for that edition in the background.

After selecting the edition, you can optionally inject the latest Windows updates through MSU injection. We highly recommend doing this, so the machine deploys offline fully patched and you don't have to spend hours running updates.

To do so:

  1. Click the Microsoft Update Catalog link in the wizard. It should open a new window in your default browser where can you download the latest cumulative update, classified as Updates on the website.
  2. Download it to any folder on the PC.
  3. When the download is done, go back to the wizard and click the Import .msu button.
  4. Select the downloaded .msu file, and the iiDeploy wizard will start updating the deployment WIM file so that Windows deploys fully patched.

Be patient

This process can take a long time because of injecting a large Windows update file offline. Allow about 15 to 30 minutes to complete. You will know it's done injecting when step 3 says "Injected ...the msu file name".

WinPE driver injection is also optional, but it is highly recommended for wider device support during deployment.

To do so:

  1. Download the Dell and HP WinPE driver packs by clicking the links in the wizard.
  2. Download the latest WinPE drivers pack and extract it.
  3. After extracting, drag and drop the whole extracted folder into the drag and drop section of the wizard.

For other device makes, you can get any WinPE drivers by browsing the web for your device make, such as Lenovo and others.

This process makes sure that Windows has the proper ethernet and other drivers needed for WinPE to work properly during deployment.
